At SmoothStone Partners no one receives a traditional salary. All talent-partners bill clients directly with neither a middle man nor administrative fee. All work is assigned by referral, based on competence and character. Engagements are largely structured on a “pay for performance” basis.

The concept of “what goes around comes back around” applies to all we do.That includes partners referring their clients to me in my role of chief marketing officer, brand strategist or executive creative director. Though my market rate is $200 I normally bill clients at a rate of $90 per hour and work quickly; in contrast to some agency executives who take twice as long to get the same result at 2x the price for strategy, planning and creative guidance.
